Some FAQ's 1) What are alcohol inks? A) Alcohol inks are fast-drying, highly pigmented, alcohol-based inks that are great to use on any hard, non-porous surface including glass, metal, plastic, ceramic, stone, leather, and polymer clay. Alcohol ink is waterproof, adding to its durable properties. These dye-based inks are transparent and extremely vibrant. 2) Do alcohol inks smell? A) Alcohol inks have a water consistency and will have an alcohol type smell. If you are sensitive to smell, consider working near an open window. Blending Solutions are used for diluting the highly pigmented colors and blending the alcohol inks together. It's also used for cleaning paintbrushes, work areas, and hands. 3) How long do alcohol inks take to dry? A) Most colors are tacky dry within a few hours and fully dry within 24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. But if the inks are partially dry, as can often happen within a few minutes, depending on the temperature, they get hard edges when you drop in a color beside or on top of another color. 4) Can I use alcohol ink on canvas? A) A very concentrated use of alcohol ink will make intense colors like those used in tie-dying, but diluting the ink will give you much more subdued coloring. It's also possible to use alcohol inks to paint on fabrics as if using watercolors on paper. 5) What surfaces does alcohol ink work on? A) Glass and Ceramic Tiles Alcohol ink and glass can create an almost stained glass effect, but without all the work of carefully soldering panes of glass together. Since glass is a non-porous surface, it's a great option for mixing, layering, and scraping away layers of dried ink to create a range of different designs.
